Sorrentos Bistro Italian Cuisine Banner Elk Restaurant

Guest Recommendations

The food was really good I had the penne ala vodka my husband had the lasagna both were very good, the wine was great and we ordered a small pizza for the kids the atmosphere was great it’s in a little shopping plaza with a nice fire pit outside we would definitely go back !!

We’ve had various dishes at Sorrento’s and Jennifer conducted a tasting when we were in search of a caterer for our wedding. They won us over big time. Everything is beautifully presented and delicious. The atmosphere is great, they display beautiful art from national and local artists. Working with Jennifer has been wonderful and she is very resourceful if you don’t know much about the area. Satisfaction seems to be her top priority. Katie has been our waitress both times we’ve come and she’s been great. Can’t wait to work with your servers for the wedding!

This place was incredible! Great service and amazing food. I had the veal Marsala, and my family shared the spinach and artichoke dip and the calamari as appetizers. Amazing! Jennifer is the best and gave great recommendations.

“Fantastic Italian Restaurant ~ great for families or a romantic night out”
After a long drive to Banner Elk from Raleigh, NC with three small kids (8,4,2) we were told about Sorrento’s Bistro by a local for great food and pizza – we were sold. We were tired when we arrived and when we first walked in, thought it was going to be a disaster. The decor inside is fantastic – copper table tops … it looked nice. Not the place we would usually take 3 kids after being in a car for 4+ hours … that being said, we were there, we were hungry and they had pizza. We sat down and were immediately impressed by the menu – great selections, great wine selections. You wouldn’t expect to find such a great Italian restaurant in Banner Elk – but we were very pleased. The thing that made our meal so fantastic (besides the food and large glass of red wine) was the wait staff. Our children went and sat at the bar to watch the gentleman make the pizzas (the kitchen is open so you can sit at the bar and watch) and they were fascinated. Our waitress actually brought the kids small dough balls to play with at the bar counter – this..was huge! They had a blast! As many of you with families know – if the kids are happy .. mom and dad can enjoy a peaceful meal. She even brought their drinks to the bar so they could ‘hang out’ until dinner was ready. We had everything from Chicken Parm, Fettuccini Alfredo, Greek Salad, Steamed Mussels and Cheese pizza – it was wonderful. I have say – the pizza was amazing! We would definitely recommend this restaurant and go back. Oh, we also had a ton of leftovers that we ate the next 2 days for lunch – so portions are big. They don’t have a kids menu – but they will make any dish ‘kids’ size’ and it’s much cheaper. It is a little pricy – but totally worth it. Enjoy!

“Great customer serivce & amazing food.”
I recently dined at Sorrentos for the first time this past week with a few of my friends from out of town. We all wanted to try this “Spectaclar” Italian Restaurant that we have heard so much about. We had a reservation around 7:00 and we were greeted by their friendly staff and seated right away. We ordered a spinach artichoke melt as our appetizer and it was delightful. I highly recommend trying their crabcakes which has became my new favorite place to go when I am craving them because they are some of the best I’ve ever eaten. Each entrée we ordered was just fantastic. The service was great, between our waiter and the hostess checking on us we were all very well taken care of. If you are ever in the area I hope you try this place out for youself. It truely is one of the best authentic italian restaurants I have tried.

“Wonderful service and awesome atmosphere.”
The employees were absolutely wonderful. Byron and Alex were prompt, tentative bartenders with a welcoming attitude. I never had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a drink. Alex was especially accomodating when it came to deciding with drink I would prefer. Overall great place to hang out with friends and have a good time.

“Best Italian in high country”
Loved this place!! Best food and service hands down. Seafood was soooo fresh and pizza best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this bistro to anyone coming to this area. Portions large.. Be ready to take some home. Atmosphere was nice and beautifully decorated. Don’t miss this culinary treat!!

Really great restaurant. The service was impeccable felt like a celebrity the place was crowded but the staff was really in sync. The marinara sauce was absolutely the best. Glad they served the homemade rolls, I sopped up the sauce on the bread wow! Had the fresh catch grouper oreganto perfectly cooked with a wonderful crusted top. My friend had the Shrimp diablo and love it. We split a tiara misu and can’t wait to go back for more. Great service, outstanding food. You can’t go wrong!!!

Wow, what a great find. This place was spotless and the decor was unexpected for the area, felt more like South Beach. The staff was very warm and friendly, and the food was amazing. We started with a crab cake in a lobster bisque sauce, thought we were in Maryland. Then our entrees my husband had a veal francese, that was so tender he cut it with a fork, I had their eggplant rollitini, and it was out of this world… The desserts looked good, but with the portion sizes we didn’t have room. Don’t miss this gem.
